Feist & Timber Timbre - “Homage”

Fucking gorgeous. This is my jam.

Feist - “L’Amour Ne Dure Pas Toujours”

Pourquoi t’inquiète mon silence
Crois-moi tu n’as plus de recours
Que prendre ton mal en patience
L’amour ne dure pas toujours

Feist - “How My Heart Behaves”
——-
A cold heart will burst, if mistrusted first.
And a calm heart will break when given a shake.

John Legend - “Secret Heart” (Ron Sexsmith cover)
——-
This man is covering all my favorite songs!

The very secret that you’re trying to conceal,
Is the very same one you’re dying to reveal.
Go tell her how you feel.
Secret heart, come out and share it.
This loneliness, few can bear it.
Could it have something to do with
Admitting that you just can’t go through it alone?
Let her in on your secret heart.

Super old article/interview with Leslie Feist & Emily Haines from VICE. Still awesome.

Feist: We’ve never really fallen out.
Haines: I remember we had this misunderstanding once.
Feist: Yeah, some people were telling me: “Emily thinks this.” And people were telling her: “Leslie thinks this.”
Haines: Yah. But by phone call or by writing or whatever we came to the conclusion that our mandate as friends was… um…
Feist: “When in doubt…”
Haines: “…give the benefit of the doubt”
Feist: Yah. When in doubt, give each other the benefit of the doubt.
Sage advice from Leslie Feist & Emily Haines.

Feist - “It’s Cool To Love Your Family” (from her first album, Monarch (Lay Your Jewelled Head Down))
——-
It’s cool, it’s cool to love your family
It’s cool, it’s cool to love your family
It’s cool, it’s cool to love your family
I know because I love them more and more

Happy Monday! So over the weekend I rewatched Scott Pilgrim vs. The World with my buddy and got excited (again) about the use of Metric’s “Black Sheep” in the movie. (For those wondering, it’s the song that Envy Adams’ band, The Clash at Demonhead, play at Lee’s Palace.) Anyway, it got me thinking about all the Canadian bands I really love, so this week’s mix is full of bands from The Great White North!

I really do love Canada. And I’m not just saying that because most of my family is from Toronto. I mean, what’s not to love? Universal healthcare, Tim Hortons, hockey, maple leaves, curling, poutine and milk in a bag! I mean, minus their frigid winters, it’s a pretty lovely place.

Oh, and the photo was taken at Seven Grand in Downtown LA.

——-
I feel it all, I feel it all
I feel it all, I feel it all
The wings are wide, the wings are wide
Wild card inside, wild card inside

Oh I’ll be the one who’ll break my heart
I’ll be the one to hold the gun
