Balmorhea - “Pyrakantha”

Gorgeous tune & gorgeous video. Los Angeles, I love you.

(Because I’m sure you’re wondering: that house with the chandelier-filled tree is in Silverlake.)

Remember, TONIGHT, we’re at LACMA once again, in the courtyard, for Jason Reitman’s LIVE READ of Manhattan. Being HUGE Woody Allen fans (we’ll prove it soon), this one is a big deal to us. Jason has already announced the outstanding Shailene Woodley (who you know from The Descendants, but rumor is you’ll know better in the next Spiderman) in Mariel Hemingway’s Oscar nominated spot, with Fred Savage, Erika Christensen, Mae Whitman and G1988 homie Jason Mantzoukas in the recast as well. Still two spots left unannounced, including the main Woody Allen role, and we have our hopes (he invented Facebook in a movie).
Either way, above is the new Matt Owen poster and it’s a great homage to the NY we all remember. They are still only $30, 16x20 inches and an edition of only 100. We will be in the LACMA courtyard selling them, starting at 6 PM. There will be a standby line tonight, with a lot of people getting in, so come on down!
Whatever is left over tomorrow, will go online at gallery1988.com.

All of the posters made for the Live Reads are super awesome.

Agreed - my Reservoir Dogs poster looks pretty great on my wall. Really happy that the Live Read series is starting up again!

How I spent my Veterans Day weekend. Boozy brunch with friends, getting cultured at LACMA, cocktails & German street food (not pictured) in Silverlake, and a mini road trip to Yucaipa for some apple cider, apple cider doughnuts & wandering orchards. Also saw the World’s Largest Paper Cup and a Hipster Pharoah.

Hope you guys had a good weekend too!

Art Theft for Amateurs

The three pieces shown in the first row of panels are (L to R): Jeff Koons’ Balloon Animal, Damien Hirst’s The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living, and Rene Magritte’s The Treachery of Images.
I’ve been lucky enough to see all of these in person! (Balloon Animal (Blue) at LACMA, The Physical Impossibility at The Met, and The Treachery of Images at LACMA.)

Reblogged from this isn't happiness.
Finally framed and up on my wall.

This has been on very hard secret to keep. For the final LACMA Live Read from Jason Reitman, he will be recasting The Big Lebowski!!!
Once again, we worked with artist Matt Owen to create the poster, and we feel like we saved the best for last.
The event will has Jason getting actors to come in and read the script in front of a live audience (NO CAMERA, NO YOUTUBE, IT LIVES ONLY FOR THAT NIGHT!), so you can imagine how awesome this night will be. Tickets are sold out, but they do have a stand-by line that night, March 29th.
Only Live Read alums Patton Oswalt and Nick Kroll have been announced, along with Hank Azaria, as “assorted small cast members,” but we can’t wait to hear more.
As in the past, Matt’s limited screenprint will be available that night at the event, then online the next day with whatever we have left.
It will tie the room together. Read more about this at Entertainment Weekly, who debuted the print this morning.
